The main function of air storage tank in air compression system is to ensure the stability of air supply. Compressed air sedimentation in the reservoir water, adjust the pneumatic equipment pressure fluctuation caused by unbalanced gas, increase the gas pressure stability of the equipment, or reserve part of compressed air, the air compressor failure occurs, the user use this part of the compressed air to the pneumatic device or pneumatic control system for use in emergency treatment.


Selection of gas storage tank


1. Pressure selection


According to the different pressure of the gas storage tank, it can be divided into high-pressure gas storage tank, low-pressure gas storage tank and atmospheric gas storage tank. The optional gas storage tank pressure is greater than or equal to the exhaust pressure of the air compressor, that is, the pressure is 8 kg, the selection of gas storage tank pressure is not less than 8 kg;


2. Volume selection


The volume of the optional gas storage tank is about 0.3-0.5 of the exhaust volume of the air compressor; If environmental conditions permit, large volume storage tanks can be selected to help store more compressed air and better pre-water removal.


Example: Such as air compressor exhaust volume is 1 cubic per minute, pressure is 8 kg. According to the selection calculation formula of the gas storage tank, the volume of the gas storage tank = the range between the exhaust volume of the air compressor *0.3 or the exhaust volume of the air compressor *0.5, (not less than one-third or one-fifth of the exhaust volume), the recommended volume of 0.3 cubic or 0.2 cubic gas storage tank; If the subsequent gas consumption still needs to be increased, the volume of the gas storage tank can also be appropriately enlarged, such as 0.5 cubic, 0.6 cubic, or 1 cubic;


3. Material selection


The gas storage tank can be divided into carbon steel gas storage tank, low alloy steel gas storage tank and stainless steel gas storage tank according to the selected material. They are used with air compressor, cold and dry machine, filter and other equipment to form a power source compressed air station in industrial production. Most industries choose carbon steel gas storage tank and low alloy steel gas storage tank (low alloy steel gas storage tank yield strength and toughness are higher than carbon steel gas storage tank, the price is relatively high); Stainless steel gas storage tank is mainly used in food industry, medical pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, microelectronics and other production requirements of high comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and molding) of equipment and parts industry. You can select a value based on the actual situation.


Service life of gas storage tank


Gas storage tank is a special equipment, the manufacturer will give a recommended service life, the current basic is 10 years. This does not mean that more than 10 years of gas storage tanks can not be used, if more than 10 years and every year to the quality inspection bureau inspection and qualified inspection can also be used. But to use not enough 10 years to examine unqualified however, it is not ok to use. Specific according to the inspection results of the quality supervision bureau to judge whether it can continue to use. The proposal uses regular large well-known brand to store gas tank.


Generally in 1 cubic under 10 kg (including 10 kg), are simple pressure vessels, national inspection exemption. Simple pressure vessels are indicated on the nameplate of the gas storage tank and the product quality certificate, which can be exempted from inspection within 7 years and need not be used for registration. The attachment shall be inspected according to the provisions of the local quality supervision bureau.

Air storage tank connection difference


The inlet and outlet connection of the air storage tank has two interface ways, one is thread, the other is flange.


1 Threaded connection


Thread type interface is thread type, suitable for small caliber connection, in Rp as a unit, Rp is the meaning of internal thread. For example, RP1/2 refers to the thread interface of the gas storage tank is an inch and a half of the internal thread, and Rp2 is two inches of the internal thread. Thread interface size: 1.5 inch, 2 inch (DN65)


2 Flange connection


Flange in DN, is refers to the nominal diameter of pipeline, also called nominal diameter, such as (is the nominal diameter of 50 mm, when connecting pipe fixed on the different flange, intermediate and flange gasket, and then the two flange connection with bolt together, flange connection convenient disassembly, sealing effect is better than the screw thread. Flange connection is generally used for diameter comparison. Flange interface size: DN80, DN100, DN125, DN150 these are conventional, and non-calibration done, such as DN200, DN300 these are non-standard.


Not all specifications of the gas storage tank have thread and flange two interface ways, the choice of flange or thread interface is not specific, mainly depends on the size of the air compressor interface.


Gas storage tank safety valve for use

As an important part of the gas storage tank safety valve, it often plays a key role in the whole system. The safety valve needs to be adjusted by professional operators because of its particularity. Prior to use, the relevant inspection work needs to be carried out. During the check, perform the following steps:


(1) First cut off the gas supply source;


(2) Provide water supply, turn on the machine to test the operation. Observe the pressure gauge. If the relief valve does not open at a certain pressure, further adjustment operation is required: continuously adjust the bolt position to achieve a more suitable opening position. Check and adjust again, and so on, to ensure that the safety valve can open properly.


The gas storage tank should be used in strict accordance with the specification for the use of the gas storage tank, the safety valve and pressure gauge must be installed correctly, and every year to go to the inspection (the actual situation is subject to the requirements of the local quality supervision bureau), if there is no way to stop the production, it is necessary to spare a set, there is no chance. In any case, safety is always a priority.


Precautions for use of gas storage tank

Overpressure and overtemperature of the gas storage tank are strictly prohibited. Operators should ensure that the gas storage tank is in normal working state.

Do not use open flame around the gas storage tank or on the container. Do not use open flame to look inside the container. When the gas storage tank is under pressure, it is not allowed to carry out any maintenance and impact on the tank body by hammer and other objects;

Oil-lubricated compressors must be treated with oil and water removal, and the oil content, water vapor content and solid particle size and concentration of the compressed air meet the requirements of GB/T3277-91 "Compressed Air Quality Grade for General Use" Appendix A before entering the air storage tank;

In view of the contact between oil and air in the air compressor, once the temperature is too high, it is easy to produce carbon spontaneous combustion and oil explosion ignition mechanism (see GB10892-89 for details), the compressed air entering the gas storage tank is strictly prohibited to exceed the design temperature of the tank. In order to avoid excessive exhaust temperature, the air compressor must regularly check the overtemperature shutdown device, regularly check the heat transfer surface (filter, separator and cooler) and clean.

For oil-bearing compressors, all pipelines, containers (gas storage tanks) and accessories between the exhaust port and the compressed air temperature of 80 degrees should be regularly checked, and any carbon accumulation should be effectively removed (including carbon accumulation in the compressor cylinder head).

The use and maintenance of air storage tanks and air compressors must strictly follow the provisions of "Fixed air Compressor safety Rules and Operating procedures", "Safety Requirements for Volumetric Air Compressors" and "Safety Requirements for Compressors used in technological processes".

If the unit using the gas storage tank fails to implement the above requirements and warning clauses, it may cause the failure of the gas storage tank and the serious consequences of explosion. Please remember this.
